NEW YORK: Finn Partners has launched Finn Partners Health, a national practice headed by Miriam Weber Miller.
During her career, Weber Miller launched two healthcare communication brands to the market, BlissHealth and FischerHealth Life Sciences, which was subsequently acquired by Porter Novelli.
Her title is senior partner, director of Finn Partners Health. She will be based in the agency's New York office and report to Alicia Young, managing partner.
The practice will focus on industry sectors including consumer health, health policy and public affairs, health services, non-profit and health information technology. The firm is also hopeful of expanding into the pharmaceutical world, CEO Peter Finn said.
“We don't have anything in that area at the moment, but a year from now we expect our healthcare business to be significantly larger and that includes pharmaceutical business,” Finn added.
Weber Miller also has experience in specialty pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies including Abraxis Bioscience, Amgen, Atrix Labs, Millennium, Novo Nordisk, and Oscient Pharmaceuticals.
She is optimistic she'll be able to get business in these areas. “There are a lot of opportunities out there as companies need help navigating the new regulatory landscape,” she said.
After Finn Partners split from Ruder Finn last year, all existing healthcare clients, including pharmaceutical giant Novartis, stayed with Ruder Finn.
Finn Partners' health clients now include the American Association of Orthodontists, Long Beach Memorial Hospital, American Kidney Fund, Barlow Respiratory Hospital, Los Angeles County Department of Health, and Pelican Biopharma.
The firm currently has 20 people dedicated to healthcare issues. Finn hopes this number will rise as new business comes in.
