WASHINGTON: Public affairs firm The Hatcher Group has hired Norman Black, a former chief spokesperson for UPS, as a VP.

Black spent nearly 20 years at the Associated Press, where he covered Washington and local politics, Congress, and defense issues before his 15-year career at UPS.

Black's hiring follows the return of Olivia Doherty to the firm. She is serving as director of communications, after working for two years as a senior communications associate at the Pew Center on the States.

Earlier this year, Laura Lane, former MD and head of international government affairs at Citigroup, joined UPS to lead its public affairs operations.
