JVC taps Definition as PR and social media AOR

WAYNE, NJ: Consumer electronics company JVC Americas has selected Definition Branding and Marketing to handle PR and social media for its consumer audio and video group.

WAYNE, NJ: Consumer electronics company JVC Americas has selected Definition Branding and Marketing to handle PR and social media for its consumer audio and video group.

The agency, which was approached by JVC directly, will promote the company's camcorders, home theater projectors, headphones, audio products, and audio and video accessories, said Daniel O'Connell, MD at Definition. He added that the firm will also promote JVC products that will be released at the end of 2012 or early next year.

JVC representatives were not immediately available for comment.

The company previously worked with R&J Public Relations.  

Terry Shea, an account director who joined the agency earlier this month, will lead the account with help from other traditional PR staffers and digital media experts, said O'Connell.

Definition will manage JVC's Facebook and Twitter accounts, which have more than 74,000 fans and 8,500 followers, respectively. The agency is also looking into other social media options for the company, like Pinterest and Tumblr, explained O'Connell.

“Our view and philosophy at the firm is never to settle at the baseline, so we're always looking at a whole host of social properties,” he said.

In addition to social media, O'Connell said Definition will engage technology, trade, and consumer lifestyle media and bloggers to “keep the brand strong, relevant, and compelling.”

He added that since the consumer electronics space is very competitive, Definition will focus on increasing awareness of the “well-recognized” brand by engaging media one-on-one and getting its products in people's hands.
