LOS ANGELES: NBCUniversal's Fandango, an online and mobile movie theater ticket service, has appointed Dana Henry Benson as executive director of communications, a newly created position for the company.
Benson most recently served as head of communications for Disney Interactive's online and digital entertainment businesses.
She will report to Paul Yanover, president of Fandango, and Lenore Moritz, VP of communications for digital and integrated media for NBCUniversal's entertainment and digital networks and integrated media division. NBCUniversal promoted Moritz to her current role in November.
During Benson's tenure at Disney Interactive, she led PR activation of the brand's original web series. She also handled communications for Disney's online properties, including Disney.com, Babble.com, and DisneyFamily.com, as well as Disney's mobile apps.
Before Disney, Benson served as a VP at Bender/Helper Impact for six years. Prior to that, she worked in various communications positions at Mattel, Hasbro, Broderbund Software, and Edelman Worldwide.
In November, NBCUniversal promoted Hilary Smith to SVP of communications for the company, as well as its entertainment, digital network, and integrated media groups. She leads communications for Telemundo, mun2, Bravo Media, Oxygen Media, Style Media, Sprout, DailyCandy, Fandango, iVillage, Television Without Pity, and the integrated media group.
