CHICAGO: Edelman has hired Denis Edwards as global chief information officer to manage the agency's technology systems and help improve its digital offerings.
Edwards is overseeing internal and client-facing technology infrastructure in all of Edelman's offices and sister agencies worldwide. He started in the role Wednesday and reports to Matthew Harrington, global COO. He replaces Paul Adams, who left the CIO role in May.
One of Edwards' initial priorities will be working with Edelman's digital team to evaluate and improve its capabilities, he said.
“[Edelman] already has a fantastic story around digital, but I need to make sure they have the technology capabilities to continue to deliver,” Edwards explained.
Edwards was previously global CIO at HR service provider Manpower Group, where he led IT operations across 82 countries. While at Manpower, he also partnered with the CMO to improve the company's digital branding strategy and develop social media career development services. He was ranked No. 14 on Forbes magazine's list of CIOs that effectively leveraged social media at Fortune 200 companies.
Prior to that, Edwards held IT leadership positions at companies including Cadbury-Schweppes, Marriott International, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
