Finn Partners promotes Pooley to broader role

CHICAGO: Finn Partners has promoted Dan Pooley to managing partner, based in its Chicago office.

Pooley, who joined the firm in 2009 before it split from Ruder Finn, remains in his role as MD and continues to report to Richard Funess, president of Finn Partners Americas. He has joined the agency's committee of managing partners, which consists of nine executives, and will make decisions about running the agency, said Peter Finn, the agency's founding partner.

Finn added that Pooley was promoted because he has done a “fantastic job” managing the Chicago office and growing the firm's Midwest presence. When Pooley joined the firm, the Chicago office brought in about $2 million, but this year it is expected to garner at least $5 million, he added.

Pooley's goal is to develop the Chicago operation and grow the firm across its network, he said. He managed the launch of Finn Partners Chicago in 2012 after it separated from Ruder Finn at the end of the previous year.

“The nice thing about Finn Partners is that we've created what I think is a really nice foundation,” said Pooley. “I think we're on a path to do really great things for staff and also for clients who trust us with their brands and businesses, and ultimately their relationships.”

Two focus areas are the Chicago office's consumer b-to-c and technology b-to-b sectors, added Pooley.

Previously, Pooley worked at Weber Shandwick for three years as SVP, where he served as the client relationship leader for the National Milk Mustache “Got Milk?” campaign. Before that, he spent three years running Cramer-Krasselt's Chicago office. He also worked at Weber for several years before Cramer-Krasselt, as well as at Edelman and Manning, Selvage, & Lee, the predecessor of MSLGroup, in Chicago.

Last month, Finn Partners acquired travel specialist firm M. Silver Associates and opened a London office. It also launched a national healthcare practice in October.
