CHICAGO: Finn Partners has acquired the business of Healy & Schulte, a Chicago-based marketing and PR firm.
Five of the agency's six full-time staffers will join Finn Partners in new roles, four of which are senior positions. Founder and principal John Healy will work as a senior partner at Finn Partners, reporting to Dan Pooley, managing partner and Chicago office leader.
Ann Morris will join Finn Partners as a partner, while Amy Magro and Kara Kristoff will join the firm as managing associate and senior associate, respectively. The Healy & Schulte brand will be discontinued.
Healy & Schulte's other principal, David Schulte, will not join Finn Partners and will instead become SVP and CMO at SmithBucklin, an association management company and Finn Partners client.
Finn was drawn to Healy & Schulte because of the work the firm has done in the industry and association realms and its experience conducting research for clients, said Pooley.
“Those two things together gave us some extra value opportunities in Chicago and around the network,” he said. Finn Partners was also pleased with the agency's strategic planning background.
The deal will also build on Finn Partners Chicago's more-than-50% growth last year, said founding partner Peter Finn.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The PR industry saw a spate of agency acquisitions earlier this month. Japanese advertising giant Dentsu Network bought Mitchell Communications, and sports and entertainment marketing company IMG Worldwide acquired Catalyst Public Relations. Ketchum bought Raleigh, NC-based Capstrat, and IR and financial communications firm MBS Value Partners acquired PR agency Farrell Kramer Communications.
