NEW YORK: Sard Verbinnen & Co. has named 18-year agency veteran Debbie Miller head of its Chicago office, and it has promoted Bryan Locke to MD.

Miller, who will also remain MD, has replaced Brad Wilks as head of the firm's Chicago office. After eight years at SVC, Wilks is leaving to “pursue the next phase of his career,” the agency said.

Miller joined SVC in 1995 and has worked in the Chicago office for the past seven years. In her new role, she will report to chairman and CEO George Sard and President Paul Verbinnen.

Previously, she worked at Morgan Stanley, where she was in the debt capital markets division as a member of its financing services group.

Locke's MD role is newly created, and he reports to Miller. An SVC spokeswoman declined to comment on the reporting structure of the agency or give further details about Miller's roles at the firm.

Locke joined Sard Verbinnen in 2011 as a principal in its Chicago office from Citadel, where he was most recently a senior member of its client relations team.

The promotions are part of SVC's plans to expand its presence in the Midwest, the firm said.

According to Mergermarket's year-end League Tables of PR Advisers, SVC topped the rankings for both highest value and highest volume of M&A deals in the US. It worked on 123 transactions worth $215.8 billion in 2012, according to Mergermarket. Globally, SVC advised on the highest value of M&A deals, with 132 deals for $226.7 billion.

This article was updated on January 24 to correct the number of years Wilks spent at Sard Verbinnen & Co. He worked at the firm for more than eight years.
