WASHINGTON: Former White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart is returning to Glover Park Group, a firm he co-founded, as a senior adviser after a stint as Facebook's VP of global communications.

“[Lockhart] is one of the finest strategic minds in communications and consulting. We couldn't be more excited to welcome him home. Our clients and our firm will benefit greatly from his leadership and wise counsel,” said Glover Park CEO Chip Smith, in a statement.

Last October, Lockhart said he was leaving Facebook to take up consulting. He oversaw the social network's corporate, policy, and international communications team after joining the Palo Alto, CA-based company the previous June.

Before his time at Facebook, Lockhart worked as MD at Glover Park Group for a decade. Previously, he was the White House press secretary for former President Bill Clinton from August 1998 to October 2000.

Since Lockhart left Facebook, it has worked to build up its communications staff in the DC area. In December, Jodi Seth left her post as Sen. John Kerry's (D-MA) communications director to join the company as manager of public policy and communications.
