NEW YORK: AXA Equitable Life Insurance has appointed Lauren Day MD and head of corporate communications.
AXA's corporate communications was previously led by Marcia Tierney, who left the company in the fourth quarter of last year. An AXA spokesperson was unable to say where Tierney is now working.
Day is reporting to Amy Radin, CMO of AXA Equitable. Day's role is not newly created but is “newly defined,” according to a company spokeswoman.
As part of the executive management team, Day will oversee AXA Equitable's corporate communications strategy and platform, which includes media relations, public affairs, leadership communications, and employee and field engagement.
Day will also head the company's event planning and its production business, which includes Equitable Production Group and the Auditorium at the AXA Equitable Center in Manhattan. In addition, she will serve on the communications steering committee of AXA Group.
Day joined AXA Equitable from Prudential, where she worked as VP of communications for more than 18 months. Prior to that, she worked at AIG, where she was responsible for the communications strategy for the company's restructuring. Day also was a senior associate in the capital markets group of AIG Global Real Estate Investment Corporation.
AXA UK hired Richard Stephenson, the Royal Mail Group's head of PR, as director of corporate affairs last October.
Earlier this month, Allstate added oversight of corporate relations to the duties of its marketing head, Sanjay Gupta. He continues to lead marketing for the insurance giant. The company's previous corporate relations EVP, Joan Walker, announced her retirement last month.
