MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Professional social networking site LinkedIn has appointed Catherine Fisher director of corporate communications, a newly created role that is focused on consumer PR.
Fisher, the former head of communications for two years at home décor discount company One Kings Lane, joined LinkedIn at the beginning of the year. She reports to Shannon Stubo, VP of corporate communications at the company.
Fisher's responsibilities include spearheading “creative and integrated campaigns” for the brand and working closely with marketing to educate consumers about all of LinkedIn's offerings and services, she said.
“My role will be to help transform the way consumers think about LinkedIn, so that LinkedIn does much more than helping people find a job,” she explained. “LinkedIn is about making you better in the job you currently have.”
Prior to One Kings Lane, Fisher was the director of communications for Netflix, where she ran consumer PR.
Fisher is taking over that scope of work from Krista Canfield, who previously served as LinkedIn's senior manager of corporate communications with a focus on consumer PR but was promoted to the new position of senior manager of corporate communications in January. Canfield now reports to Hani Durzy, director of corporate communications at LinkedIn, who handles corporate PR efforts.
Canfield is working on a variety of corporate communications initiatives for the company. These include its talent brand communications campaign, which promotes LinkedIn as a workplace, and its enterprise value story, which helps businesses leverage LinkedIn in an effective way.
She will also continue overseeing the company's LinkedIn for Journalists program, which is in its fifth year.
