PETEAUX, FRANCE: Havas Group reported on Tuesday 1.1% organic revenue growth in the fourth quarter of 2012, generating $697.5 million, compared with the same period of the previous year.
North American quarterly revenue at the holding company, which owns and operates Havas PR, Abernathy MacGregor, and Cake, among other firms, rose to $214.2 million in the quarter, up 6.5% organically from Q4 2011.
Fourth-quarter revenue in Europe shrunk 3.2% to $354.8 million.
Havas Group reported full-year revenue of $2.38 billion, representing 2.1% organic revenue growth compared with the previous year.
In North America, it posted 2012 revenue of $789.8 million, up 3.3% organically. Growth in Europe was flat, with revenues of $1.18 billion.
Asia-Pacific and Africa saw annual revenue grow organically by 8.7% to $174 million in 2012. Meanwhile, Latin American grew 8.8% organically, with the group reporting revenues of $231.7 million in the region for the year.
Net new business amounted to $2.2 billion for the year, up 22% from 2011.
The holding company pointed to 26% of its annual revenue coming from digital and social media, following a strategic move to put the businesses at the core of its activities and agencies around the world.
David Jones, chief executive of Havas Group, said in a statement that 2012 was a “good year” for the holding company, considering the global economy remains challenged, especially in Europe.
“The momentum at Havas is excellent following the successful rebranding of our divisions and the simplification of our structure,” he said in the earnings statement. “We continue to see good new business wins and growth of digital, supported by the unique co-location of our media, creative, and digital teams.”
“ could be another challenging one, but these factors, along with promising activity in January, give us confidence in Havas's ability to continue to perform," he said in the earnings statement.
