MIAMI: Facebook has hired JeffreyGroup as PR AOR in Mexico and Argentina.
The agency is charged with identifying and engaging stakeholders in both countries' advertising and entertainment industries to communicate the benefits of Facebook's monetization platform, as well as its culture and values as a media company, said JeffreyGroup president Mike Valdés-Fauli. The firm's work will encompass media relations and leveraging its influencer database, Webfluentials.
“This is one of the world's most iconic brand names and respected companies," he explained. "It's an enormous honor to be partnering with them.”
Facebook is the most popular social network in Latin America with 115.5 million visitors from the region, according to a report last November by research firm comScore. LinkedIn, the second most popular social channel in Latin America, received 35.3 million visitors during the same period.
Latin Americans spend 56% more time on social networking sites than the global average, while Argentina ranks first in terms of time spent on social media, the study found.
Latin America has seen “explosive and exponential [social media] growth in the last few years, having overtaken some pretty well-entrenched local social networking sites,” added Valdés-Fauli.
Last month, Facebook said Brunswick US managing partner Michael Buckley will join the social networking company as VP of business communications, starting in March. Reporting to VP of communications and public policy Elliott Schrage, Buckley will be responsible for international, monetization, corporate, consumer, and policy communications.
The Miami Marlins turned to JeffreyGroup in January to turn around their relationship with fans.
