Mark joins APCO Worldwide health advisory board

WASHINGTON: Saralyn Mark has joined APCO Worldwide's health advisory board.

WASHINGTON: Saralyn Mark has joined APCO Worldwide's health advisory board.

She has more than two decades of healthcare experience working as an endocrinologist, geriatrician, and women's health specialist.

Mark is now president of SolaMed Solutions, an organization that provides medical and scientific policy advice to academic, industry, and nongovernmental and professional society organizations.

APCO's health advisory board is a specialty group of its international advisory council comprised of former chief medical officers, public health leaders, heads of communication of large pharmaceutical and insurance companies, and former health policy officials that assist APCO clients on messaging strategies.

The firm selected Mark for the panel because it considers her a pioneer in women's health, said Stig Albinus, the recently appointed global chair of APCO's health care practice, in a statement.

Mark helped to create the National Centers of Leadership in Academic Medicine and the National Centers of Excellence in Women's Health in academic and community health centers across the country. She was the first senior medical adviser to the Office on Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services.

“Working with APCO is just a wonderful idea and fit that takes into account my history of working on various cutting-edge issues,” Mark said.

In addition to advising clients on an as-needed basis, the board also convenes monthly to discuss healthcare trends, she added.

Last summer, APCO Worldwide named Bob Kocher, former special assistant to President Barack Obama on healthcare and economic policy, as a member of the advisory board.
