LOS ANGELES: Former Yahoo corporate communications director Kristen Morquecho has joined people search engine Spokeo as VP of communications, a new position at the company.
Morquecho started in the role on Monday. Reporting to CEO Ray Chen, Morquecho is overseeing Spokeo's corporate communications strategy, including external and internal communications and media and community relations. PR director Vanessa Flores is reporting to her.
Morquecho previously spent seven years at Yahoo, most recently leading communications strategy for its media network, including new video programming, strategic brand partnerships, content partners, its ad platform, and US product launches. She also oversaw communications efforts for Yahoo Search. She left the company last October.
Prior to that, Morquecho served as head of communications at Citysearch and Evite, where she developed and led PR programs for product launches. She also worked at Los Angeles-based PR firm MPRM for six years.
“So many tech companies are in the Bay Area, but I love that this tech company is in LA and they're doing something interesting in the search category,” Morquecho said. “Because of my prior experience, I understand the industry they're in and the challenges they face.”
Founded in 2006, Spokeo is a search platform that aggregates data about people from social networks and public records.
