AUSTIN, TX: Crosswind Media & Public Relations has acquired Washington DC-based boutique communications agency Mask Media.

Mask Media's office has been merged into Crosswind's Washington office, and Mask Media founder Lindsey Mask has been appointed VP and director of Crosswind's Washington operations.

Crosswind CEO Thomas Graham said the acquisition, which has been in development since last summer, will help the agency tell its clients' stories in the nation's capital. He added that Mask's influence and expertise in women's issues is also a driving force behind the deal.

“If you look at the last election cycle and public policies, women are playing an extremely critical role in public dialogue,” explained Graham. “For businesses to be successful today, they need to make sure they are communicating to this important audience.”

In addition to launching Mask Media last year, Mask is the founder of Ladies America, a national network for professional women. She also co-founded DC Entrepreneurship Week, has served on the board of the 2012 G8 Young Leader Summit, and is on the board of Women Under Forty Political Action Committee.

Before founding Mask Media, she was a broadcast journalist and worked as a spokesperson for Republican members of Congress for 10 years.

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Some of Crosswind's practice areas include corporate reputation, public affairs, energy, financial services, and higher education.
