Visa Europe has appointed Nick Jones, head of digital communications for the UK government, to a senior digital role at the company.
Jones will move to Visa Europe to take up the new position of corporate communications and digital VP. He will report to Fiona Wilkinson, SVP of corporate communications for Europe.
Jones, who is responsible for the digital and content channels of the UK Prime Minister's Office and Cabinet Office, including the Prime Minister's Twitter account, is understood to be in the last day of the job.
Prior to this, Jones led the interactive services unit at the Central Office of Information, the UK government's marketing and advertising agency that closed last year.
Jones and Visa Europe were not available for comment at the time of publication.
Visa Europe operates as a separate business from Visa. It is the exclusive European licensee of Visa's trademarks and technology facilitating global payments.
