NORTHBROOK, IL: Underwriters Laboratories, a product safety testing and certification company, is reviewing its global PR account. MSLGroup is the incumbent.
A UL spokesperson confirmed the review, saying the company plans to make a decision in coming weeks. MSL is not pitching again for the business.
“MSLGroup wishes UL well as it continues to evolve its marketing communications. We have chosen not to participate in the RFP process in order to focus on other opportunities,” the agency said in a statement. “We remain proud of the breakthrough and award-winning work that we have achieved together over the course of our partnership.”
UL consolidated its agency roster in 2011 and awarded its global PR business to MSL. The firm had already handled consumer marketing efforts in North America for the company, including social media, media buying, and digital advertising. At the time, industry sources told PRWeek that the account was valued in the mid-seven-figure range.
Prior to that, GolinHarris was UL's global PR AOR.
The company has five business units, including product safety, environment, life and health, knowledge services, and verification services. It operates a network of 95 laboratory, testing, and certification facilities.
