CHICAGO: Cision has partnered with Marketwire to expand its press release distribution service.
The agreement will give Cision users access to a wider distribution network, 24-hour editorial support, and analytics for releases. It will also expand Cision's international reach, said president and CEO Peter Granat.
Marketwire's distribution channels will be integrated with CisionPoint, Cision's PR software, in April. The cost of the service will start at $250 per release.
Cision previously partnered with NASDAQ OMX's GlobeNewswire service for press release distribution. GlobeNewswire is the smallest of the four main US wire services, a group that also includes PR Newswire, Business Wire, and Marketwire, Granat said.
“We liked what Marketwire was doing in analytics, and its overall network was a nice upgrade for us,” Granat added. “With this new partnership, we're replacing our relationship with GlobeNewswire and upgrading our offering.”
The analytics feature will include information such as page views, clicks, and unique visitors, allowing users to create reports and measure the performance of their press releases. With Marketwire's expanded network, customers will be able to target distribution by region, city, or country.
Editorial review of releases will include a multi-step security process. Additionally, users will be able to add multimedia components to releases, share them on social media channels, and improve SEO.
Cision and Marketwire will continue to operate as separate companies and sell standalone services to customers.
Last month, Cision promoted North America chief executive Granat to president and CEO of the company as part of a long-planned management succession. He has worked at Cision since 2003.
