Despite China's growing economic clout, the country's technology companies still have a way to go to catch up with US tech competitors in terms of coverage. Combined, Chinese tech firms account for only 5% of overall share of voice among technology brands analyzed in Western media, according to the “Mind the Gap” study from Weber Shandwick and Prime Research. The highest-scoring Chinese technology company was Alibaba with a 1.2% share of voice, just less than Dell (1.3%) and Cisco (1.6%). Apple and Google outpaced the rest of the competition with 29.8% and 24.7%, respectively.
