Bell Pottinger Private chairman Timothy Bell has paid tribute to Margaret Thatcher, who died this morning, as “one of the great prime ministers of all time.”
The 87-year-old Thatcher, who Bell worked for on three successful general election campaigns beginning in 1979, died after a stroke. As her spokesman, he handled the news of her passing.
“We'll never see the like of her again. She was one of the great prime ministers of all time and transformed people's lives,” Bell said. “She was just a fantastic person – extraordinary charisma, very focused, loved her country, loved being in government, and dedicated her life to making people's lives better…I think history will remember her very kindly.”
