LOS ANGELES: Health and sports product manufacturer Vega has hired MWW as its AOR for North America after an informal review.
MWW, which officially started working with the company about two months ago, is managing the account from its Los Angeles office. JP Schuerman, MWW EVP and Western region GM, is overseeing the account.
The agency is tasked with raising awareness of the Vega brand through a PR campaign, educating consumers about its products and plant-based diets, and positioning the company as a leader in the plant-based nutrition category, said John Digles, EVP and head of the firm's health and wellness practice. The effort will include all of North America but a large focus will be on the US, he said.
The firm's other responsibilities will include reaching out to fitness, health and wellness, and lifestyle media and bloggers, as well as working with Vega executives on thought leadership.
Digles added that for the one-year contract, MWW will also partner with the brand team to support its social media messaging.
The company, which sells vegan and gluten-free products, such as supplements, smoothies, energy bars, and snacks, targets a wide range of consumers, said Digles. Many of its products are also soy and dairy-free.
“Vega's target is anyone who wants to find cleaner sources of protein and nutrition, so their brand certainly reflects vegan values, but it's also for people who eat meat and are looking for a cleaner protein option,” he explained.
In addition to increasing brand recognition, MWW wants to help Vega boost its sales, said Digles.
Representatives from Vega were not available for comment. Budget information was not disclosed.
