How do you use it?
We have more than 200 users. The primary users are our social media community managers for our different business units who are scheduling or moderating content, and pulling data and analytics.
Our analytics team and researchers also have access to more data and dashboards, but they don't post.
When you log on you can go into different windows to do different things. There's a page where you can post content, a newsfeed where you can watch what's coming in from your accounts and respond, and data portals where you can look at metrics.
If there's a problem I call or email our service representative. Customer service is really great.
How does it serve your business needs?
We've recently invested resources, time, and budget into developing content directly for YouTube as opposed to just putting videos for TV or the Web on YouTube. We can use Spredfast to track everything from channel subscribers to comments to time-watched metrics. We just pulled a report of YouTube reach, activity, and engagement comparing the first quarter of 2013 to all of 2012, when we hadn't yet shifted to creating content specifically for YouTube. The percentage growth for all three measures was in the thousands.
Spredfast lets us track growth and make course corrections if necessary. It allows us to do deep dives on content strategy, engagement during various times of days, and what influencers are saying or doing. We're constantly levering that information to improve our social strategy.
How does it integrate with your existing infrastructure from an IT standpoint?
It's Web-based, and there's a mobile app.
What are the main benefits?
Spredfast's engineers have worked closely with our team to make sure they understand our workflow, and they're designing the system to work better for us. I see our feedback in the system everyday.
It's reliable. AARP has so much information in our platform that it was crashing the system early on. Spredfast worked proactively and got a server just for our information. That's something other vendors couldn't guarantee.
What are the main drawbacks?
I can't think of any.
What would you like to see improved / added?
We have a prioritized list of things we work on with Spredfast. There are about 10 things currently on the list. One off the top of my head is improving our influencer tracking, and Spredfast is working on that now.
