Novartis promotes facts and figures about meningitis

NEW YORK: Novartis is working with longtime agency partner Ruder Finn to promote its support of the fifth World Meningitis Day, which will take place on Wednesday.

NEW YORK: Novartis is working with longtime agency partner Ruder Finn to promote its support of the fifth World Meningitis Day, which will take place on Wednesday.

The Confederation of Meningitis Organizations is organizing this edition of World Meningitis Day.

In the past week, the agency has promoted “Meningitis Awareness Hours” on the Novartis Twitter feed, where it has posted facts about the illness. The firm also published a playlist with educational videos about the disease on Novartis' YouTube channel.

Ruder Finn's goal is to highlight Novartis's Bexsero, a novel broad coverage vaccine that helps protect all age groups against certain strains of meningitis.

“Prevention through vaccination is the best defense against an aggressive disease that leaves little time for intervention,” said Albert Liao, senior manager of global product communications for Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics. “The goal of the campaign is to help educate the public about this potentially deadly illness, including the warning signs and symptoms, the dangers of the disease and the available vaccines, which can help prevent against some of the meningococcal strains.”

Ruder Finn deferred comment about its work to Novartis.
