NEW YORK: Porter Novelli has appointed Beth Davies, who has held various communications positions at Diageo, as EVP and consumer practice director in New York.
Davies most recently ran her own firm, Beth Davies Consultancy, for three years. She is reporting to Darlàn Monterisi, EVP and MD of Porter's New York office.
Before hiring Davies, Monterisi had the dual responsibility of MD and consumer practice director; the roles are now separated.
Davies' main responsibilities include overseeing the consumer practice in New York and collaborating on business for consumer brands across the US and globally. She started in the role April 17.
“There's a huge opportunity for organic growth,” said Davies. “I think there are a lot of consumer spaces that we can really grow the business in.”
Davies added that she will work to grow Porter's consumer portfolio in technology, food and drink, nutrition, and health and wellness.
Monterisi cited Davies' experience working in large global organizations and with large teams.
“Personally, I was passionate about getting someone in here who complements our outlook and style and how we approach growing our teams internally and then growing client relationships,” Monterisi said.
Prior to founding her own agency, Davies worked at Diageo Guinness in Dublin for eight years, serving as global VP of corporate relations for the last two years there.
Last month, Porter hired Fred Shank, former Edelman VP, to serve as SVP in its New York office's consumer practice. In March, the firm also appointed Jesse Soleil, former CEO of boutique media company Massiverse, to serve as SVP of digital, a newly created role.
