AUSTIN, TX: Edelman has promoted Jackie Hopkins, who has worked at the firm since 2006, to EVP and GM of its Austin, TX, office, effective immediately.
Hopkins, most recently lead for business development in Edelman's Chicago office, is reporting to Helen Vollmer, president of Edelman's Southwest region. She has succeeded Morris Denton, who was appointed EVP and GM of Edelman Austin in September 2011. Vollmer said in a statement that “Morris left the agency at the end of December to pursue entrepreneurial interests.”
Hopkins will work to ensure the office, which has more than 20 staffers, focuses on the technology, digital, and consumer lifestyle sectors.
During her time in Edelman's Chicago office, she served as a leader in the consumer marketing group, helping to develop business strategies, lead consumer lifestyle clients, and build on existing relationships.
Prior to joining Edelman, Hopkins held various communications roles at Lands' End, Target, Sears, and Marshall Field's.
In the Austin office, Edelman serves clients such as AMD, DigitalGlobe, the office of the governor of Texas, Builder Homesite, Zilliant, GE ecomagination, and Chevron. Edelman's Southwest region works on accounts including Travelocity and parent company Sabre, Shell, and Cameron.
Earlier this month, the agency also promoted Cricket Wardein to head of its US digital practice, a newly created role at the firm. In March, Edelman hired former Hill+Knowlton Strategies SVP Claudia Husemann as EVP and corporate communications group head.
