NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has restructured its leadership team in the Asia-Pacific region, naming Patrick Ford regional chairman and Matt Stafford CEO of Greater China.
Ford, who served as interim Asia-Pacific chair since October, will oversee a newly formed senior executive leadership team that includes Stafford; Australia CEO and market leader Christine Jones; Korea market leader Margaret Key; and Prema Sagar, founder and principal of Indian firm Genesis Burson-Marsteller.
Ford, a 24-year Burson veteran and former president and CEO of the agency's US operations, will continue to serve as global vice chairman for client service and as a member of the global leadership team.
Burson promoted Stafford, previously the Hong Kong market leader, to oversee the firm's newly integrated Chinese operations, which include offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. He will replace former China CEO Chris Deri, who will leave Burson to pursue another opportunity in the US, the agency said in a statement.
Daisy King, head of Burson's US China specialty group, will take on the additional role of interim Beijing market leader. The WPP Group firm promoted acting market leader Vincent Li to permanent market leader for Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Shenzhen. King and Li will join the Greater China leadership team alongside Angelina Ong, Shanghai market leader and regional brand marketing practice chair; Ian McCabe, regional public affairs practice chair; and Jackie Price, who leads two key regional client relationships for Burson.
The agency has not yet named a successor to Stafford for the Hong Kong market leader.
Former Asia-Pacific CEO Bob Pickard left the agency in October.
