CARROLLTON, TX: Restaurant chain TGI Friday's is nearing the end of a competitive review for a new PR agency partner.
Quinton Crenshaw, director of communications at TGI Friday's USA, said in an emailed statement that the company is “currently finalizing our decision on a new agency partner in support of our PR and communications efforts.”
It is understood that the restaurant chain is seeking support for corporate communications, crisis work, and some consumer engagement.
In October 2010, TGI Friday's selected Peppercomm, then known as Peppercom, as AOR to handle consumer, digital, social media, and integrated marketing work. An agency representative deferred comment to TGI Friday's.
The restaurant chain has more than 928 locations around the world, 554 of which are in the US. Its other restaurants are spread across 59 countries. The first TGI Friday's opened in 1965 in New York City.
In addition to TGI Friday's, parent company Carlson operates the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, which includes Radisson Blu, Radisson, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson, Country Inns & Suites by Carlson, and Hotel Missoni. The group also operates Carlson Wagonlit Travel.
Carlson reported flat overall revenue of $37.6 billion in 2012. TGI Friday's posted a 5% revenue increase to $2.7 billion for the year, with strong growth in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.
