NEW YORK: Spanish-language media company Univision Communications is conducting a review for a PR agency partner.
A spokesperson for Univision confirmed it had issued an RFP but did not disclose further details.
Last month, Univision said it will team up with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez's cable channel, El Rey Network. The collaboration, which will target a younger generation of Hispanic consumers, is expected to debut in December.
Univision is also preparing for the launch of its joint venture with ABC News, a 24-hour news and entertainment channel called Fusion. Scheduled to premiere later this year, Miami-based Fusion will target English-speaking US Hispanics.
Univision, which has expanded from three to 12 TV channels over the past several years, faces competition from networks like NBC Universal's Telemundo and MundoFox, News Corp.'s first national Spanish-language broadcast network that launched last year.
Jeffrey Group, which has worked with MundoFox parent Fox Hispanic Media for the past six years, helped with the launch of the channel.
In March, Univision promoted Mónica Talán to EVP of corporate communications and public relations. She previously served as SVP of corporate communications and PR at the company. Prior to joining Univision in 2008, Talán worked at Fleishman-Hillard for ten years as SVP and partner and as senior counselor and strategist for Hispanic market initiatives.
