NEW YORK: Havas PR has hired James Wright, MD of Australian firm Red Agency, to serve as MD of its Asia-Pacific operations, a newly created role.
Wright, who joined Havas subsidiary Red Agency in 2011, will continue to report to regional APAC leadership. He will also report to Marian Salzman, CEO of Havas PR North America, since she serves as chair of the agency's global PR collective.
In addition to overseeing Havas PR's APAC region, Wright will continue to lead Red Agency.
Salzman said that Wright's appointment will help the firm elevate its offerings and services in the region to the level they operate at in North America, Europe, and Australia.
The agency said in a statement that Wright doubled the size of Red Agency's Australian operation and helped win business from brands such as Yahoo Australian unit Yahoo7, Origin Energy, and the WWF. He has also worked on specialty offerings such as social media community strategy service #RedSocial, media relations offering 100% Red Press, Red Guerilla experiential work, and Lev_REDge corporate sponsorship efforts.
Prior to joining the Havas network, Wright was a board director at Grayling UK, where he worked with a range of consumer and corporate clients, specializing in CSR, sustainability, and crisis and issues management. Before that, he was a board director at Trimedia UK.
Last month, Havas PR hired Renee Harper, former CCO of the Newark public school system in New Jersey, to serve in the newly created role of EVP for North America, focusing on the education, philanthropy, and NGO sectors. The firm also brought on Ravi Sunnak as EVP of corporate and cause in May, also a new position at Havas.
