NEW YORK: The Huffington Post has hired Amanda Schumacher, former VP of communications for Time Inc.'s lifestyle group, to serve as VP of communications with a focus on lifestyle.
Schumacher, who has held several roles at Time Inc. since 2000, is reporting directly to Arianna Huffington, chair, president, and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group.
Huffington said in a statement that Schumacher is focusing on the company's 18 lifestyle sections.
“As we embark on a new editorial focus at HuffPost — the theme of our women's conference on the Third Metric, redefining success beyond money and power to include well-being, wisdom, our ability to wonder, and our ability to give back — [Schumacher] will bring her extensive communications experience in the lifestyle field to what is a growing HuffPost editorial priority,” she explained, in the statement.
Most recently, Schumacher handled communications for Time Inc.'s nine lifestyle brands, including All You, Coastal Living, Cooking Light, Health, MyRecipes.com, Real Simple, Southern Living, Sunset, and This Old House, according to her LinkedIn profile. She held this role for eight months, and before that served as executive director of communications for the company's lifestyle group for about two years.
From 2000 to 2009, Schumacher served as PR director for Time Inc.'s Real Simple, according to her LinkedIn profile. She also owned a boutique lifestyle firm named Amanda Potters Communications from 2009 to 2011.
Prior to joining Time Inc., Schumacher was a junior publicist at Scholastic.
Last August, Reuters reported that Lauren Kapp, SVP of global strategy, marketing, and communications at The Huffington Post, left the company after three months there.
