LONDON: Swiss pharma giant Novartis has hired Insight Public Affairs to work on its public affairs in the UK.
The agency picked up the retained brief after a competitive pitch and began work on the account this month.
Insight Public Affairs director James Tyrrell said a key focus of the brief, which encompasses corporate public affairs and brand public affairs, will be working with the UK government to promote the role the pharmaceutical industry plays in the national economy.
“The life sciences industry is the jewel in the UK's industrial crown,” Tyrrell said. “In order to win the global race, the government needs to recognize the contribution that the industry makes and to ensure the UK benefits from jobs and investment.”
PRWeek UK understands that Novartis' head of government affairs for pharmaceuticals, Munira Wilson, led the pitch process, and the agency will report directly to her.
Tyrrell added that the win was an illustration of the growth of Insight's healthcare practice, which has expanded with new clients and team members in 2013.
In March, Novartis appointed APCO Worldwide to provide public affairs training for the company, with the account led by MD of APCO EMEA Philippe Maze-Sencier and project associate Magdalena Stepien.
