Reckitt Benckiser calls in Virgo for UK Durex account

LONDON: Virgo Consumer Health has won the Durex UK account, bringing its business with Reckitt Benckiser to three accounts worth an estimated £500,000, or about $755,000.

LONDON: Virgo Consumer Health has won the Durex UK account, bringing its business with Reckitt Benckiser to three accounts worth an estimated £500,000, or about $755,000.

In the coming months, Virgo will launch a range of products and initiatives, alongside running the press office.

PRWeek UK understands the account was previously held by Myriad Public Relations. The Durex win follows Reckitt Benckiser awarding Virgo two pieces of business from its personal care and healthcare portfolios earlier this year. The fees for all three accounts combined are approximately £500,000.

For the UK personal care division, for which Virgo has worked on Reckitt's Scholl foot care brand since 2011, the agency has been hired to deliver a cross-brand campaign and brand-specific activities across the five-strong portfolio: Scholl, Veet, E45, Clearasil, and Optrex.

On the healthcare side, Virgo is covering PR for the Nurofen, Nurofen for Children, Lemsip, and Strepsils brands in the UK.

Virgo will report to Reckitt Benckiser marketing director Jérome Lemaire.

Meanwhile, Virgo has expanded its team with the hires of Craig Haslop and Abby Purdy, as associate director and account manager, respectively.
