FORT WORTH, TX: US Airways has hired Christine Kelly Singley as MD of corporate communications ahead of the closing of its merger with American Airlines.
Singley will report to US Airways corporate communications VP John McDonald. She will play a significant role in combining the communications departments of US Airways and American, the company said in a statement.
Most recently, Singley led executive, international, operational, and internal communications for Delta Air Lines. She has also served as communications director for the Missouri Department of Higher Education and as deputy communications director for Missouri Gov. Bob Holden (D).
American Airlines corporate communications VP Andy Backover will depart the company following the completion of the merger this fall. McDonald will serve as VP of corporate communications and public affairs at the combined company, reporting to EVP of people and communications Elise Eberwein.
US Airways shareholders voted to approve the merger last week.
