LONDON: Weber Shandwick has promoted its consumer marketing chief Rachel Friend to a wider group MD role, with Emma Thompson stepping into her shoes.
In the new role of group MD for brand marketing, Friend's brief is to bring together the agency's consumer marketing offering with the specialties for consumer technology, consumer health, sports, strategic planning, and digital.
Thompson, formerly Friend's deputy, is succeeding her as MD of the consumer marketing practice, which the agency claims has registered double-digit growth for two consecutive years and has had a strong 2013.
“[Friend] is an inspirational leader who has been a real change agent in consumer and across our London office,” said Weber UK and Europe CEO Colin Byrne. “[Thompson] is one of the hardest-working, passionate, and driven people I have had the pleasure of working with. She has been [Friend's] partner in the transformation of the consumer practice, the work, and the service provided to both new as well as established clients.”
