PARIS: Publicis Groupe has acquired Columbus, OH-based digital firm Engauge Marketing.

The agency will become part of Publicis' ZenithOptimedia Group in the US and will be aligned with digital firm Moxie, which is based in Atlanta. Engauge and Moxie will maintain their respective brands in the marketplace.

New York-based private equity firm Halyard Capital was the previous majority owner of Engauge. The agency has more than 30 clients, including Nationwide Insurance, Cisco Systems, and Coca-Cola, Publicis said in a statement. It has offices in Columbus, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Orlando, FL, and more than 250 employees.

Engauge was formed from the combination of Columbus-based ad agency Ten United, digital marketing services company Spunlogic, and data analytics and CRM firm Direct Impact.

Late last month, Publicis and rival holding company Omnicom Group said they plan to merge. The combination is subject to regulators in more than 40 countries, as well as shareholder votes. Publicis and Omnicom CEOs Maurice Lévy and John Wren will serve as co-CEOs of the combined umbrella group for 30 months, with Wren taking over as sole chief executive after that period.
