CHICAGO: Cision has promoted Dawn Conway to COO of Cision US, a new position at the PR and marketing software and services company.

Conway will lead product, marketing, sales, analysis, finance, and media relations and “drive the overall strategic vision for the US business,” the company said in a statement. She will continue to report to president and CEO Peter Granat.

Conway said her goals in the role are to grow Cision's US business and address customer needs.

“I think we are doing that. We are getting into the content-marketing space, and we are out in front of that,” she said. “I think we are on the right track with the products and other things we are working on.”

Conway previously served as EVP for customer experience and global content licensing. Prior to Cision, she was an SVP at LexisNexis during a two-decade career at the company. Conway is also an attorney.

She noted that her legal background could be helpful because “this is a rapidly changing industry in terms of copyright and compliance issues.”

In February, Cision promoted then-North America CEO Granat to president and CEO of the entire company, replacing Hans Gieskes, as part of a long-planned management transition. Gieskes had served as president and CEO of Cision since 2008.

Earlier this year, the company also partnered with Marketwire to expand its press-release-distribution service.
