LONDON: Nomads, a new agency formed by the management of StrawberryFrog Amsterdam and MediaCatalyst, launched this week with the global Emirates ad account among its first clients.
The shop was created after a parting of ways between Hans Howarth, the founder of MediaCatalyst and outgoing chief executive of StrawberryFrog Amsterdam, and Scott Goodson, the worldwide chairman of StrawberryFrog and co-founder of its Amsterdam operation.
Howarth will lead Nomads as chief executive, while Goodson will remain in the global Strawberry Frog role.
APCO Worldwide acquired a majority stake in StrawberryFrog in February 2012. Goodson, then CEO of the ad agency, said at the time that plans were for the ad agency to operate independently with its management team in place. It had about $20 million in revenue at that point.
Emirates is a former StrawberryFrog client. Nomads' other founding clients include Sony Computer Entertainment, TNT Express, and Human Rights Watch. Its 70-strong team will be based in Amsterdam and Singapore, with plans for other offices under way.
The management team includes staff from StrawberryFrog and MediaCatalyst. Lisa Lee is the chief strategy officer; David Warner is executive creative director; and Agnes Willenborg is the business and innovation director.
Nomads will look to work with global brands.
“Nomads is an agency that works with companies that want to move beyond their own borders, finding innovation at the point where brand, product, service, and marketing converge,” said Howarth.
