NEW YORK: Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher has appointed partner Matthew Sherman as president, a newly created position at the firm.
Joele Frank also named founding partners Andrew Brimmer and Daniel Katcher vice chairmen. Founder and managing partner Joele Frank will continue in her role.
As president, Sherman is responsible for marketing efforts, new business development, and day-to-day management, as well as working with Frank, Brimmer, and Katcher to set the strategic direction of the firm. He will also continue to advise clients, he said.
“We're setting the stage for the public to see the senior planners of the firm going forward,” Frank said. “It's a normal progression. [Sherman, Brimmer, and Katcher] were already doing these roles, so it's about time we formalized it.”
Sherman was one of the founding principals of the firm along with Frank, Brimmer, and Katcher when it launched in 2000. During his tenure, he has advised on transactions and special situations including M&A, hostile takeovers, proxy contests, activist shareholders, spin-offs and reorganizations, crises, litigation matters, and management changes.
Sherman began his career at Abernathy MacGregor Frank, now known as Abernathy MacGregor Group, where he worked with Frank, Brimmer, and Katcher.
Sherman was named to PRWeek's inaugural 40 Under 40 list in 2007.
Joele Frank has about 75 employees, 14 of whom are partners. For the first half of this year, it ranked No. 1 among PR firms in Corporate Control Alert's US M&A league tables. The firm has worked with clients including JC Penney, Procter & Gamble, US Airways, Herbalife, and Sony.
