AIG appoints Coory to lead corp comms in Asia-Pacific

HONG KONG: AIG has hired Damian Coory as VP of corporate marketing and communications for Asia-Pacific, a newly created role at the company.

HONG KONG: AIG has hired Damian Coory as VP of corporate marketing and communications for Asia-Pacific, a newly created role at the company.

Based in Hong Kong, Coory will lead AIG's corporate communications operation and staff in 15 countries in the region, including Japan. He will oversee media relations, executive communications, corporate brand, internal communications, CSR, and sponsorship initiatives.

Coory will report to SVP of corporate communications Christina Pretto, with a dotted line to Asia-Pacific CEO Jose Hernandez.

Coory was previously MD of Coory & Associates, which he founded in 2004. While at the firm, he also served as a training partner to Edelman in Hong Kong and Singapore. Before that, he was a director at Hill & Knowlton. Coory began his career as a broadcast journalist.

Last year, former Citigroup executive Jon Diat joined AIG as VP of external communications.
