Havas North America revenue up 0.2% in Q2

The French holding company, which owns Havas PR, Abernathy MacGregor, and Cake, reported a 1.7% organic revenue increase in the second quarter. However, North American organic revenue growth was flat in Q2.

PETEAUX, FRANCE: Havas Group reported 1.7% organic revenue growth in the second quarter of 2013 to $596 million, compared with the prior year.

North American revenue increased 0.2% year-over-year in Q2 at the holding company, which owns and operates Havas PR, Abernathy MacGregor, and Cake, among other firms, to $190 million.

For the first six months of 2013, Havas Group's revenue grew 0.5% organically to $1.1 billion, compared with the first half of 2012. Its North American revenue dropped 1.8% in that period to about $361 million.

The holding company does not break out PR earnings.

“From a growth perspective, the group made good progress in France and in the United Kingdom. North America returned to positive growth in Q2 and Latin America to double-digit growth,” said Havas CEO David Jones, in a statement.

In the earnings statement, the company said that healthcare communications, digital, media, and corporate communications were all contributing factors to the positive progress made in North America in Q2, where Canada posted double-digit growth.

The company earned $1.1 billion in net new business in the first half of 2013. The margin of income from operations in 1H 2013 reached a record high of 13% to $144 million, compared with the first half of 2012.

Representatives from Havas were not available for comment on the earnings report.
