LONDON: Simon Burton, former head of corporate affairs at UK lottery operator Camelot, has joined supermarket chain Tesco as interim group head of government affairs.
Burton has been covering for Victoria McKenzie-Gould, who has been on maternity leave, since last month.
He left Camelot at the end of July after three years as head of corporate affairs. Burton left the organization to set up his own company specializing in reputation advice and public affairs, according to a Camelot spokesman.
In May, Camelot said that Burton was preparing to transition out his role to focus full-time on setting up the comms infrastructure needed to support its international ambitions. This coincided with the news that Telefonica's Glenn Manoff would join the UK National Lottery operator in the new role of director of corporate affairs this month.
Burton was unavailable for comment.
