NEW YORK: FleishmanHillard has promoted Heidi Hovland, SVP and director of brand marketing and digital, to serve in the newly created role of deputy GM of its New York office.
Hovland, who started in the position on Thursday, is reporting to Robert Dowling, president of Fleishman's US East Region and GM of New York. She will retain her title of senior partner.
One of Hovland's main responsibilities is to transform and continue driving growth in the New York office, which has about 150 staffers.
Fleishman is looking at all areas of expertise and figuring out how to improve them, especially brand marketing, media, and social and digital, she said.
After recent growth, “[Dowling] really recognized that he needed someone by his side” to bring ideas for the office to fruition.
“This is a really exciting step to work hand-in-hand with my colleague across the practice groups to figure out ways we can really be the undisputed leader in New York and beyond,” she explained.
Hovland joined the agency in 1991. She spent 2005 to 2007 at Manning Selvage & Lee before returning to Fleishman.
During her years at the Omnicom firm, she has co-founded and co-led Fleishman's Marketing to Moms practice group and served as a leader of the consumer products sector. Hovland has also worked on a number of large accounts, including Samsung, Barnes & Noble, Global Hyatt Corporation, and Carnival Cruise Lines.
Before joining Fleishman, Hovland started her PR career out of college at Ketchum.
