ATHENS, GA: Fast-casual pizza chain Your Pie has appointed Ken Caldwell to serve as its VP of development, a newly created role for the brand, as it expands its footprint across the US.
Caldwell, who has spent 20 years in franchising and development, joined the company last month, reporting to both Your Pie CEO Bucky Cook and founder Drew French. He also reports to David Barr, chairman of the board, who is helping to guide the brand's vision.
Caldwell's responsibilities include developing strategies to make people aware of the Your Pie brand and investment and franchising opportunities. His efforts to raise awareness among media and consumers will include a number of outreach tactics, such as PR and marketing.
He will also collaborate with Your Pie director of marketing Cali Lacey to make sure their messages are clear and coordinated.
Franchising has evolved over time, said Caldwell, which is why his role includes working with PR and marketing to develop a comprehensive plan rather than just advertising in trade publications.
He will collaborate with Your Pie's PR agency partner No Limit Agency, as well as Lacey.
“What I want to do is take Your Pire from a small, emerging, fast-casual pizza concept in the Southeast throughout the country,” said Caldwell. “We hope to have 100 units by the end of 2015.”
He added that the company wants to make sure it is present in all major metropolitan areas.
Most recently, Caldwell served as the VP of franchising at Guava Healthcare.
Caldwell started his career at Heavenly Ham, working with current Your Pie chief executive Cook, where he helped the company grow from 10 units to 230 before it was sold to HoneyBaked.
While at HoneyBaked, Caldwell grew the company from 35 units to 180 and also helped the brand transition through the acquisition.
In August, private equity firm Georgia Oak Partners invested a seven-figure sum in Your Pie to help the company expand to markets across the US.
Your Pie will soon open restaurants in Atlanta; Charlotte; Tampa, FL; Nashville, TN: Charleston, SC; Birmingham, AL; and Augusta, GA.
