AMSTERDAM: The Renault-Nissan Alliance has hired Brian Akre for the new position of director of executive communications, based in Amsterdam.
He will report to director of marketing communications for the alliance, Simon Sproule, whose own role was expanded in March.
Akre had worked as senior speechwriter for Royal Dutch Shell, based in The Hague, since 2011. From 2007 to 2011, he was a communications director for Nokia in Espoo, Finland.
Last month, Omnicom Group created a multidisciplinary agency team known as Nissan United as part of a multiyear agreement with the Japanese automaker. Emanate is handling communications as part of the New York-based agency team.
