AdvaMed promotes Moebius to SVP for public affairs

AdvaMed, the trade group for the medical technology industry, has promoted Wanda Moebius from VP to SVP of public affairs.

WASHINGTON: AdvaMed, the trade group for the medical technology industry, has promoted Wanda Moebius from VP to SVP of public affairs.

She started in the role on October 28, replacing Gary Karr, who left the organization in April. Karr has been serving as head of national business communications at Aetna since September.

Moebius' replacement in the VP role at the Advanced Medical Technology Association has not been determined, she said.

Reporting to JC Scott, AdvaMed's senior EVP of government affairs, Moebius will continue to manage the public affairs department and its overall strategic direction, with a focus on advertising, social media, and policy communications. As SVP, she oversees five staff members.

“My department is going to continue to have two main focuses: repealing the device tax and communicating the patient and economic value of medical technology,” said Moebius.

Prior to joining AdvaMed as a VP in 2007, Moebius worked in senior roles at PhRMA, Dittus Communications, and Hill & Knowlton.

In May, AdvaMed switched agency partners for the Life Changing Innovation campaign to Story Partners from Neimand Collaborative.
