Franco PR president Leonhauser to retire

DETROIT: Maria Leonhauser, president of Franco Public Relations Group, will retire from the agency at the end of the year.

DETROIT: Maria Leonhauser, president of Franco Public Relations Group, will retire from the agency at the end of the year.

Franco EVP and COO Tina Kozak will succeed Leonhauser as of January 1, 2014. Leonhauser will continue working with the agency on a consulting basis.

Since joining Franco as president in 2000, Leonhauser has helped the firm diversify its client base and enhance its social media offering, the agency said in a statement.

Before Franco, she served as communications director for Volkswagen and Audi in North America. She was also previously a journalist, working at The Bulletin in Philadelphia, The Sacramento Bee, and Time and People magazines.

Kozak, who joined Franco in 2007, has been responsible for client service, talent retention, and business development in her current role. She also works with clients on corporate positioning, community relations efforts, brand development, crisis communications, and strategic planning.
