LONDON: Cosmetics company and Nivea maker Beiersdorf has handed Porter Novelli work across the UK and Northern Europe.
The agency hire followed a pitch and a communications restructuring at Beiersdorf, with corporate comms and corporate sustainability merged.
Porter's London-based sister agency, Paradigm, will handle consumer PR for the UK.
Porter also confirmed that its offices in six other Northern European markets -- the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Ireland – have also been brought on for what is understood to be a new account.
Last month, Campaign revealed that WPP Group's AKQA was hired for a digital account for the same region.
Beiersdorf is near the end of a three-year initiative to cut 1,000 jobs, which was announced in 2011. It reported strong results this month, including a 17% jump in third-quarter operating profit. Third-quarter earnings before interest and tax, excluding one-off costs, were about $291.5 million.
Alongside Nivea, Beiersdorf's consumer business includes the La Prairie skin care and Labello lip-bal brands, and the company also makes a range of products including industrial adhesives.
