HONG KONG: Weber Shandwick has named Jye Smith as Asia-Pacific head of Mediaco, the agency's content-creation and distribution unit, effective immediately.
Smith is overseeing all Mediaco activity in Asia-Pacific, including new business, expanding key client relationships, and growing the service throughout the region. He is continuing to report to Jon Wade, head of digital for Asia-Pacific.
Previously serving as VP of digital, Smith helped to introduce Mediaco and FireBell, which is Weber's crisis communications tool, in the Asia-Pacific region. He was named one of Campaign Asia-Pacific's 40 Faces to Watch in the communications industry.
“[Smith] has the ability to make complex digital subjects simple and see things always from a client point of view,” said Wade, in a statement.
Weber launched Mediaco in the Asia-Pacific region in August after debuting the service in the US five months earlier. It appointed Fiona Battle to lead Mediaco in EMEA in July.
