NEW YORK: Ogilvy Public Relations has named Jennifer Scott, global MD of strategy and planning, as head of its New York office, effective immediately.
Scott, who has worked at the agency since 2006, is reporting to Robert Mathias, regional CEO for North America at Ogilvy PR.
Mathias has led the New York operation on an interim basis since the previous office lead, Kate Cronin, took over responsibility for the integrated global healthcare marketing communications group, Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, last September.
“[Scott] brings an ability to deeply understand the client's business problem and the ability to translate that problem into an actual solution from a communications standpoint,” said Mathias. He added that she is also motivated by research, insights, and analytics to figure out how to drive business value.
The position Scott previously held may change slightly, but Ogilvy is looking to fill it in some way.
Scott's main responsibilities for Ogilvy New York, which has 125 staffers, include managing accounts, business development, talent, and office operations. All seven of the office's practice leads will report to her.
Scott said she wants to maintain and continue to grow the “enormous momentum” that Ogilvy's New York office has seen in recent months.
“My goal and aim is to turn this office into something that is exceptional into 2014,” she added.
Scott also said she wants to focus on growing Ogilvy PR's social media, healthcare, and corporate efforts, as well as its integrated work with Ogilvy & Mather.
In 2006, Scott joined the agency as MD of insights and research, and four years later, she was promoted to global MD of strategy and planning.
Before Ogilvy, Scott served as president of StrategyOne, Edelman's specialist research company. She also worked at Shepardson Stern + Kaminsky, serving as SVP and MD of applied research and consulting, and held a VP role at Robinson Sawyer Miller.
